Unlike other guidebooks I have seen, this one tells more about the history and culture of the country throughout the ages. The only problem is that this is not a book I ecommend to take along on your trip, since it is very heavy.
This book contains detailed coverage of the whole of Norway, with chapters covering the major cities and every area, full color mapping throughout, and useful practical information.
